Technology is antithetical to freedom

All throughout history people used technology to oppress others. When weapons were created in Ancient times, warlords used them to create governments to rule over populations who used to be free. As technology progressed so did oppression. This trend continues today through the surveillance state enabled by technology.

Technology is also used to uphold societal structures that limit the freedom of the individual. The most blatant example of this is the media. The media, while a very vague term, can be defined by “the main means of mass communication (broadcasting, publishing, and the internet) regarded collectively.” Which is just Google’s definition of the word. Anyway, the media is easily controlled by the ruling class to brainwash the population, make it blind to what is really going on, and most importantly divide the population against one another. The media helps the state to stay existing and this is a direct result of technological advancements.

All in all, I believe the abolition of tech is the only forward for a free society without hinders of the state.
